Pupil Voice
Committee Corner

In this new section, we will share initiatives and suggestions that the children have raised through their Pupil Voice forums. Each committee meets regularly, agendas and minutes are taken by senior pupils and actions agreed.

  • School Council (Pre-Prep & Prep)

  • Boarding (Year 3 – 8)

  • Eco Committee

  • Digital Ambassadors (Year 3 – 8)

  • Charity Committee (Pre-Prep & Prep)

  • Food Committee (Pre-Prep & Prep)

  • RIDE – Respect, Inclusion, Diversity & Equality (Year 8)

  • Mind Your Heads, Mental Health Group (Year 7)

Food Committee

The children had a meeting with the Chef and catering manager to discuss the menus from the past few weeks, as well as launching a poster competition focused on Healthy Eating.

Charity Committee

The whole school Bring and Buy sale raised £510, raising the total funds this academic year to an amazing £10,294.

School Council

The children asked for a PSHE lesson focused on mental health, with a particular consideration for men, and Mr Howard then came to talk to both Year 8 classes and there will be follow up discussions in form group over the coming weeks.

A note from Mrs McVey

What a joyful way to celebrate the end of the year, we hope you enjoyed the poems and songs yesterday. We are all so proud of the determination, dedication and progress that every child has made in Pre-Prep over the last year.

As we come to the end of my first year at St Andrew’s, it has truly been a busy and memorable one filled with so many special moments. From the joy of watching the nativities and special assemblies to the excitement of my first St Andrew’s Progressive Games, Dolman, biathlon and Sports Day. Not forgetting hearing all about the school trips and going on a couple myself. Every experience has helped the children grow in confidence and independence. I have enjoyed exploring Forest School, as well as spending time with Nursery and Reception. It has been a real pleasure getting to know all of the children and you as families - thank you so much for your continued support. Have a wonderful and well-deserved holiday and I look forward to seeing you in September.

Pre Prep Reports

Pre-Prep reports have been uploaded on to the Parent Portal.  If you are experiencing any issues logging in, please contact Tanya Dimmick.

Tapestry learning link - Friday 3rd July

Today you will receive an invitation to download your child’s Tapestry journal for the term; please ensure you do this promptly using a laptop (not the app).

Please check for the link in your  spam or junk’ folder as it has a tendency to end up there! The link is open for a limited period. Year 2 accounts will be deleted before the start of Autumn term as they do not use Tapestry in Year 3.

Summer Holiday Work

The children have worked incredibly hard throughout the academic year and now thoroughly deserve a well-earned break. However, we are always mindful that many parents and pupils appreciate a little continuity while away from school.

With that in mind, we have included the following optional activities to help consolidate this year's learning and ensure the children return to school in September feeling confident and ready for the exciting challenges ahead.

Please download according to your child's current year group here:

Year 3

Year 4

Year 5

Year 6

Year 7

Year 6 - Preparation for Senior School Assessments

Monitoring of devices

We know that many of the children will wish to use their Surface Go devices at home over the holiday. We wanted to make you aware that our filtering systems will remain in place but we will not be monitoring use as we do during term time.

Year 2 transition to Year 3

The Year 3 staff have greatly enjoyed getting to know the Year 2 pupils who will be joining us in September. We have had several transition events over the past few weeks, and it is lovely to see that the children are already beginning to feel comfortable and confident in the Prep School environment.

As mentioned during the transition meeting, we would recommend limiting the number of after-school clubs your child attends in September. The extended school day and new routines can be quite tiring initially, so giving them time to settle in will help ensure a positive start to Year 3.

To minimise distractions in the classroom, we will provide all the stationery the children need. Therefore, there is no need for pupils to bring their own pencil cases.

Over the summer holiday, please encourage your child to practise tying their school tie and getting dressed and undressed independently and efficiently. These small skills make a big difference in helping children feel confident and prepared for the start of the new academic year.

We wish you all a wonderful summer and look forward to welcoming the children to Year 3 in September.
