Our Art Exhibition is another eagerly anticipated annual event, showcasing the exceptional creative talent of every pupil at St Andrew's. The mezzanine floor of our Sports Centre resembled a hip Hoxton art gallery for four days, starting this Tuesday evening with a private viewing of our Art Scholars and Extension Group pupils' work. From then on in, parents, pupils and staff dropped in at their leisure to peruse the dazzling array of paintings, portfolios, sculptures and artistic collaborations, and what a collection it was.

Overseen by our equally talented Head of Art, Tim Hay, children were tasked with exhibiting an art piece on one of three thought-provoking topics - Science, Weather or Wild. Taking a whopping eight hours to set up the exhibition, the objective is for every pupil from Nursery to Year 8 to submit at least one piece of work.

Our pupils had the opportunity to work on their pieces in art lessons, while some also invested time beavering away at home.  As there was no limit on how many entries each pupil could submit, some went to town and made significant contributions.

Art is extremely popular at St. Andrews, with well-attended breaktime clubs and a high number of pupils applying for art scholarships to Abingdon, Bradfield College, Pangbourne College and Shiplake each year. Tim Hay said:

"I am so proud of our pupils, and how hard they have worked to produce such outstanding pieces of artwork. Every year, they set the bar even higher and rise to the challenge of new and exciting subject matters. Congratulations to everyone, and thank you to our parents and my colleagues for their support."
